Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information HomeTendr ("we", "us") collects through the HomeTendr app and this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built HomeTendr to run on the data your household actually needs — we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell your data.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name, and — if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google — the identifier and basic profile information those providers share with us. If you sign up with email and password, we never see your password itself; it's handled by our authentication provider.
Home content
Everything you enter to manage your home: tasks, areas, items, renovation history, notes, and any photos or documents you attach. This content belongs to you and is only shared with the other members you invite to your home.
Crash and diagnostic data
If you opt in, we collect crash reports and performance/diagnostic data to help us fix bugs and keep the app reliable. This is used only to improve the app — never for advertising or tracking — and is processed by our crash-reporting provider, Sentry.
AI assistant data
HomeTendr includes an optional AI assistant. If you enable it, your chat messages and the relevant home context (e.g. the details of a task or item you're asking about) — and, if you attach one, a photo — are sent to an AI provider to generate a response. Depending on the option you choose in Settings, that provider is either our hosted AI gateway, or a third-party provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) if you supply your own API key. If you don't enable the AI assistant, none of this data is sent anywhere.
The HomeTendr app in ChatGPT
You can connect your HomeTendr account to ChatGPT, OpenAI's chat service, and ask about your home there. Nothing is shared with ChatGPT unless you connect it yourself. When you connect, you sign in with your HomeTendr account and choose which of your homes ChatGPT may reach. ChatGPT can then see your own name and email address and, for those homes only, what its tools return: the home's profile (type, build year, move-in date, city and country — not the street address), tasks with their descriptions, labels, recent completions and attached documents (titles, links and text notes — not uploaded files), items and warranties, areas, renovations, the names and roles of the home's members (not their email addresses) and recent activity. If the home's owner or an admin allows it, ChatGPT can also add, change, complete or delete things on your behalf; those changes are made with your account and show up in the home's activity log.
What you write in ChatGPT, and what our tools return to it, becomes part of your conversation with ChatGPT and is handled by OpenAI under its own terms and privacy policy, not ours. We don't receive your ChatGPT conversations — only the tool requests ChatGPT sends us, which we use to answer them, to enforce the home's permissions and rate limits, and in short-lived server logs. Files you show ChatGPT (such as a receipt) are not stored in HomeTendr.
You can disconnect at any time in the app under Settings → AI → ChatGPT, or in ChatGPT's own settings. Disconnecting ends ChatGPT's access to your homes right away.
Support form
When you contact us through the form on this website, we receive the name, email address and message you enter, and use them only to answer you. To keep spam out, your browser solves a short computational puzzle (ALTCHA) before the form is sent. It runs on our own server — no third-party service, no cookies, and nothing about you is stored beyond your message.
Website analytics
With your permission, this website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use it — for example which pages are viewed and roughly where visits come from. Nothing is sent to Google until you accept "Statistics" in the cookie banner; if you reject it, no analytics cookies are set, and withdrawing consent later deletes them. We don't use it for advertising (Google's advertising features are switched off), and it is not connected to your HomeTendr account. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. The app itself does not use Google Analytics.

The support form's spam check (ALTCHA) sets no cookies. Strictly necessary cookies don't require consent; they are never used for tracking.
How we use your information
We use the information above solely to operate, maintain, and improve HomeTendr — for example, to sync your home's data across your devices, send you the task reminders you've configured, respond to support requests, and diagnose crashes. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your information to third parties.
Who we share data with
We rely on a small number of service providers to run HomeTendr:
- Supabase — our backend database, authentication, file storage, and server-side functions. Your account and home data are stored here, protected by per-home access rules.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases and subscriptions (StoreKit), and push notifications.
- Sentry — crash and diagnostic reporting, only if you opt in.
- Google (Google Analytics) — website visit statistics, only if you allow it in the cookie banner.
- AI providers (HomeTendr hosted gateway, OpenAI, or Anthropic) — only when you use the AI assistant, as described above.
Each of these providers only receives the data necessary to perform its function for you, and is contractually or technically restricted from using it for any other purpose.
ChatGPT (OpenAI) is different: it isn't a provider working for us. If you connect the HomeTendr app in ChatGPT, you choose to share the homes you select with your own ChatGPT account, and OpenAI's terms apply to that conversation — see The HomeTendr app in ChatGPT above.
Your home's data, deleted on request
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app. This permanently deletes your account and, unless you transfer ownership to another member first, cascades to delete the home and its data. This is a real deletion, not a deactivation — there is no support ticket required.
Children's privacy
HomeTendr is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (editing your profile, exporting or deleting your data), or by contacting us through the contact form on our Support page.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and row-level access rules so that only members of your home can see its data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately for what it is.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
